So I just snagged this light. Looks exactly like a federal signal 184 “power light” but it’s badge designates it as a Signal Stat model 339, series A2. Even the badge is nearly identical to the FS 184 uses.

I could not find info. on this thing anywhere. Any experts care to chime in and shed some light (pun intended) on this thing. Lol
What year? Anyone ever see one before? Etc etc. Thanks!

Needs a little love but after some rehab I bet it will look awesome!

Federal Signal rebadged products for other companies. Signal Stat was one of those. You have a Federal 184 rebadged for Signal Stat. Back in those days rebadging was common. Win-win for both companies.

Signal-Stat sold a lot of Federal Signal beacons with a Signal-Stat badge. I think Signal-Stat was behind the times when it came to beacons and they did not have their own beacon production going until around 1967-68. I know of no way to put an exact date on your beacon, but I would hazard a guess at 1965-66 time frame.

I will agree with you, because Signal-Stat’s own beacons, 370 and 374, earliest SAE compliance date is 1968.

The Federal 184 came in 1964 so the rebadging for the Signal-Stat model 339 must have been between these years.

I suspect the Federal 184 Series A1 was not around for long, introduced in 1964 and I have never actually seen one leads me to believe that like the Model 14, the Series A1 was a first year only version. If true, then the Series A2 would be 1965. Looking back at my research, yes, the Signal Stat 370 and 374 have SAE dates of 1968, so I'll revise my estimates to be 1965 to 1967 for the Signal Stat 339 Series A2.
