Running power wires

I'm looking for some guidance on running a power wire to my trunk. I will be installing a Whelen HHS2200 that requires 3 positive wires and a radio that requires 1. Total amps needed is 130 and its a probably a 10 foot run. Instead of running separate 8 gauge wires like the installation instructions, can't I run one large power wire like a 4 gauge wire to the trunk and branch off that? What would be the best option here?

Yes, a single power feed will work. It should have a main fuse as close as possible to the battery and a fuse block in the trunk to break out to the individual circuits.

Wire size should be based on the actual current load. 130 A is almost certainly overkill, unless you're running a huge all-halogen lighting setup.

Thanks, surprising the HHS200 is wired with 2 separate 40 amp fuses and 1 20 amp fuse, using 8 and 10 gauge wire. Seems like a lot just to run LEDs and a siren.

Whelen's wiring recommendations are for maximum capacity. You can downsize the power feed appropriately for your needs. A single 6 AWG / 80 A feed should be more than enough.

If the radio manufacturer recommends running power directly off the battery the I'd go that route.
