Hi all,

A fellow co-worker is looking diligently for a vehicle mountable gun rack for the FN SCAR-L rifle. So far Santa Cruz and Big Sky Racks have been unable to provide a good solution.

Any suggestions? Willing to try any mounting location at this mount.

Thanks,

TD

The trunk? Sorry, but there are realatively few SCARs incirculation, at least in LE, that finding a stock mount for it will be tough. Companies just aren't going to put their cost in development and tooling for a low-numbers project. You may want to reach out to the U.S. Capitol Police, I think at one time they we using H&K G36s, which is ironic, so they may know how to mount the more esoteric guns.

Figured as much :D and THAT is why I chose to buy an M4 for patrol carry instead of the SCAR-L. Big waste of money for him, I guess.

I'm happy as a clam with my muzzle-down M4. Thanks Sten

Doesn't Pro Gard have some kind of new mount that fits multiple guns. Kind of like a big handcuff ratchet. I don't know the weapon you are speaking of, but it might be worth checking into.

Easy. Try the BLAC-RAC. They've been around for a few years, but are just now releasing an electric-release version. Since the SCAR lower and the AR lower are so similar, it will work perfectly. Same unit fits most current long-guns. It can mount in trunk, on cage, overhead, wall, wherever. Setina is working with the manufacturer to add it to their line.

The BLAC-RAC - I love it. I showed my Sheriff and I think we're going to invest in one to see how it fares. Pictures to come as soon as the install is complete.

Thanks crescent.

Will that work with a 20 round mag in place? Look like it would but I'd like to be sure....

My old agency is buying some Pepperball rifles. Just sent a link for that as well. Thanks for the info.

If he'll send the SCAR to me, I'll trade him for an M-4 that will fit a standard rack. :)

All joking aside, you should be able to modify something to work. The "handcuff" style lock from Santa Cruz should work. The rifle has a true folding stock so there should be someplace you can stick it.
