Now that Im on Day 2 of house arrest, been watching youtube. Saw some trolleys (or streetcars) from Philly that have amber rotaters mounted on top. These three have what looks like an Opticom emitter mounted on top as well. Reached out to some Philly railfans as well. In my time in Philly Ive never seen the lights working. Older models had what looked like Do Ray or Federal lollipop lights on top.

Not sure if you knew the origin of those lights. The amber lights were added to SEPTA vehicles decades ago to be used by the operator to summon police. The first ones used were the flashing lollipop style that you mentioned. You would have only seen them illuminated if there was a problem on the vehicle.

Thanks. Someone on the Railroad.Net site said on the newer trollies, the led board flashes CALL 911 as well.
Thanks for the response.

Yes the lights are trouble lights buses used to have them also. Nowadays the buses have call 911 displayed on the destination board when the emergency button is pushed. It also sends a signal to the dispatchers which send both septa police and local police.
