My slimlighter won't change patterns it's the older 5mm version with the big rubber button, can the button be replaced or would it be a problem with something on the board?

Yes its the faulty switch and is a "known" problem to Whelen. If you are within the 5 year send it back - Mine was out but it got stuck on moduflash which I keep. Apparently you can "short" the actual button to get to a pattern you like. I think Jared helped me with that suggestion.

Call whelen and ask how much such a repair would cost out of pocket. Unless you can find the exact part and are good in electronics (and soldering, from what it sounds like) it might save you the headache to just cough up the money for the repair.
