I recently removed the spotlight mounted on my A-pillar and am looking for ways in which to effectively plug the hole and make it look somewhat good. I tried using the rubber gasket from the light and some white caulk, but that didn't last long. Anyone have any suggestions???? Thanks!

Bondo, or body filler is NOT for holes... It's for small wrinkles and waves in a body panel...

But to answer your question, it probably would be best to take it to a body shop and have them give you an estimate...

Body shop will be anywhere from $250-500 for that fix. We had an chiefs car that was a former Police car . He wanted the spot removed and OEM wheel covers put on. The $250-500 was the range we were quoted as a fire department without tax.

Damn. The car has enough other minor imperfections to where I don't need a professional fix. I'm thinking some rubber plugs like the ones used to plug holes in roof and trunk lids would work. Where can I purchase those?

I sealed one with RTV silicone. After it dried, I put some heavy duty industrial tape the same color as the paint over the hole. Never had a leak. It won't fix the little indent in the door frame, but it is sealed properly.

This is an Impala, so fortunately I don't have the indent in the door. But I'll give the silicone another shot I think. For some reason I thought Unity would make kits for this, but I haven't found anything like that.

I have seen CVPI's use these black piece of metals with two holes and a mini-gasket that were installed as part of the "delete option" when the cars were ordered without spotlights but had other police related items installed. Point being, you could use a hand made metal cover with just a bead of RTV silicone or black weatherstrip putty. Priming & painting it may help further if you want to take up this idea.

If this was my vehicle, I could fix it myself by tack welding a filler piece behind the hole that can slip through and stay flat on the backside with a temporary holder that's tacked to the piece. When in place, the temporary piece is removed and bondo is used to start the finishing stages, complete with touch-up paint that matches the vehicle. Second option is a can of expanding foam, shoot a squirt in the hole and trim excess just below the surface to serve as a backer for the bondo.
