Can someone please answer this before I call Digital Ally tomorrow. I hooked up the Y cable from the Stalker DSR2x and attached it to the "brain" of the Digital Ally camera system but the camera just sits and says "writing interface program" and does nothing. Also, the radar remote doesn't work with the radar anymore.... What am I doing wrong?

do you have at least one user set up and have you deleted the .hex off the cf card? I have no knowledge of the stalker brand radar but some kustom radars required a gateway box to use with the digital alley cameras. which model camera are you using? we run the 500 plus.

I'm using the 500+ as well. It says there is no hex file.

I have my issues with digital ally. We just got a new fleet (10) with brand new DVM 750 and we have already sent 4 systems back for warranty work.

yeah, those custom cables are unfortunately pricey, both to make and have in stock when there's low demand. Digital Ally tries to use standard cables whenever possible to avoid that, but sometimes there's no way around it.

cstoof, did you get your issue fixed? Hopefully they got it sorted out for you when you called in since you didn't chime in again after that, but let me know if it's still giving you problems.

cybercop, sorry to hear about your luck with the systems. Digital Ally's support is awesome, so I'm sure you'll be up and running shortly. Occasionally there's a bad batch of some part from a supplier or an installer does something funky and you see that kinda thing. They'll get you taken care of, tho, and feel free to shoot me a message if you ever have any questions I can help with.

Nope I never got it to work. Both companies basically said that the other companies product was the cause of the problem. I said screw it and gave up. I thought it would have been easier. I didn't think that I was the first person that wanted to hook up a digital ally camera to a stalker radar, but maybe I was. What a pain!

Well, you're definitely not the first person to hook up a digital ally camera to a stalker radar, and it shouldn't be this difficult, no. To start with, if you disconnect the cable, do both items work properly?

Figured it out. Like the above post stated, they are not pinned the same. So if you need to hook up your radar to your camera you either have to pay the ridiculous price of $150 for the cable from Digital Ally or you have to figure out how its supposed to be pinned and re-wire the serial cable so it is pinned correctly. Once you get it figured out it only takes a few minutes to make. Trying to figure it out sucked ass though. I'm glad it worked and I saved $150 so it was worth it.
