Got a good deal on this one yesterday. It's a little beat up but I'm going to get this little siren restored and looking nice. From what I understand, they were made from the mid 30's until about 1960. This is a 6v model so likely before 1955. Not much information out there on dating Sterling sirens so any info is appreciated.

What you see on your siren is the problem with Stirling. The metal in the housing is very thin and you get dents very easy.
They sound quite good but the apperance is not the best.
You do not see sirens from Federal, B&M and some other brands with so much dents as you see on Stirling sirens.

Took it all apart today and did some cleaning and hammered out most of the large dents. Not perfect but is getting much better. No large dents or creases now. Will probably take a few more tappings to get it really smooth and formed. Need to get it smooth enough to re-chrome.

Before Left and After right. It's hard to see with so much reflection after the cleaning.

What your siren currently lacks in appearance is made up for with it's sound. Very nice.

It does have a great sound to it. The microphone doesn't do it justice.

Your right about that, but the thin brass really makes it easier to straighten out. I"m able to do a lot of this with just pressure and around ball inside.
