So, once again, I found myself bored, and figured I would fiddle with some spare parts I had, to see just how cool I could make this bar.

I started with a Factory built Edge Ultra, which was used by San Antonio PD. It came with:

2 Front corner Strobes

2 Front Inboard Strobes

2 Front 6x6 400 Series LEDs

2 Front Halogen 400 Series Takedowns

2 Rear Corner Strobes

6 6x6 Rear 400 Series LEDs RED over Amber/ BLUE over AMBER

with Lower Arrowstick

2 400 Series Halogen Alley Lights

_______________________________________________________________

The mods...

Added 6x6 RED over BLUE LEDs to the rear.

Instead of SPLIT UPPER warning and Lower T/A, I by using a relay, have made the entire rear of the bar do ZIG-ZAG BURST warning pattern, with a T/A Function override.

I added Liberty STXLED Super Takedowns to the front

I added (Using Factory MR11/TIR3 Endcap Brackets) R/B TIR3 2 Wire LEDs, LR11 Alley Lights, and additional pair of LR11s (Which Are connected to the TDs, at 45 degrees to the front.

I also added factory LED Cruise Lights.

I added a NEW lens kit... but I need some new 9U/Freedom Endcaps to finish her.

those  better be vertical optic tir3's ..... cause horizontal optic tir3s in that application would be worse than the dreaded and often repeated split fail flash
Currently they are Horizontal optics... I am looking for the vertical optic ones.

As far as the Split Flash Fail is concerned...

This bar is NOT Split Flash.  The Rear 400s flash BOTH Red/Blue at the same time in Both Zig-Zag Burst and Traffic Advisor Mode.  I did this on purpose.  I actually LIKE the "Spooky Pink" color.  Go ahead and "Poo Poo" the Pink all you want.... BUT...

I feel that RED at night, blends in with the Brake/Tail lights of cars, and not to mention the Traffic Signals too.  When someone is approaching the rear of this bar, it is definitely different that ANY color in the drivers field of vision.  It DOES its job... it gets noticed!

Also, to you "Nay Sayers' about the Pink... consider THIS... You actually NOTICED the color, good bad or indifferent... and THAT... is what safety is all about!     ;)

It would be better if it were split flashed. This is what that thing looks like at night.

To each their own! Right?

I am still subscribed to your thread. I am interested in seeing this CUSTOM and unique bar in action. Love the mix of strobe and LED and your custom Zig Zag Burst!!

I know. Those bars are bright as hell but are just a blinding purple blob at night. Luckily there's only a few cars that have them. Their newer cars are much better running a mix of Code 3 2100s, Liberties and D&R Prowlers.

That is retarded. There has never been a time day or night that I have seen a patrol car with its lights on and thought "oh that is a funeral".

I am not saying you meant it that way, but everyone seems to get carried away with the pink or purple blob. If it a giant chunk of light that someone can see from a distance who really gives a shit what color it is?

I was hoping my sarcasm would be a little better received, but hey, this is the internet.

Its an exaggeration.

But if you're telling me a purple blob like that, flashing at 600,000fpm is just as easy to see as a R/B split lightbar synced alternating at 75fpm, you've got some research to do.

No I'm not saying a split head bar is effective. What I'm saying is that large chunks of light are effective no matter the color. If the bar is setup r/b/r/b and it flashes slow it is still going to look purple but will put off as much light as a b/b/r/r bar.

Our local town cop car has a good bar, I believe a whelen of some type, but flashes the Reds and blues at the same time, it looks like the Barney mobile rolling up behind ya! I'm not a fan of that weird pink/purple it makes but w/e. To each their own I guess.
