Streamlight Stinger LED - Help Needed!

I purchased a Streamlight Stinger LED flashlight about 4 years ago while working security at the University of Notre Dame. Some time in the last year, it started not holding a charge. I ordered a new battery and this did not help the situation. I've even put it on a new charger, thinking the old charger might be the issue, but end up with the same results. Now, it won't even turn on.

I checked Streamlight's website and looked into their warranty, but before I even submit a claim, I have to have a purchase receipt or estimated purchase date with where I bought the light from. To be honest, I've bought so much crap in the last 4yrs, I couldn't tell you where I got it from - although I know I bought it brand new.

Are there any Streamlight dealers here on the board, or anyone who may be able to help me out in regards to repairs? Pointers? Advice?

I'll see if i can dig mine up and send you a copy of it! I'm pretty sure i have it with all my claim papers for insurance, since it got stolen this summer!

I've been told it may be a switch issue... just not sure what my next step is. My nearest dealer/repair in state is about a 2 1/2-3hr drive away.

I had a similar problem with my Strion LED back in the fall. Thought it was acting up when the charge got low, so I'd recharge it and the problems seemed to go away. Eventually it was acting up even on a full charge. Took it to Streamlight and the tech there said it was a bum switch, so 10 minutes later he was back out with my flashlight with a new switch, new LED (even though the old one had maybe 1hr total runtime on it, lol!), and an extra battery just for my troubles.

Now, I don't know about sending it in, but when I took mine there (I only live 5 miles away from the HQ/factory...sorry :p), they didn't ask about any paperwork. I believe they have lifetime warranties, so it shouldn't matter when/where you bought it, as long as it's a legit Streamlight product.

Streamlight has a lifetime warranty. If you have an authorized dealer/service center, they can do the work there. I've taken in a couple of my lights and they replaced parts for free. The only thing I've had to pay for was batteries. No receipts or paperwork needed! :-D

Right. Like I said, I don't have a local Streamligjy dealer or authorized repair shop. I know they have a lifetime warranty, but that doesn't help me much, since I'd have to send it to corporate and don't have proper documentation.

Thankfully, I found a board member here that IS an authorized dealer/repair shop and my light is being shipped to Dallas, TX to be fixed - free of charge! Thanks, Cory!

I know it's about an hour from you, but you could try Flashlight Outlet in Valparaiso. Larry is good people.

I checked Steamlight's site and the only listed two authorized dealersn in Indiana... One was in Indianapolis, the other in Anderson, I believe.

Anyway, I'd rather give some business to a board member - plus all I have to do is go to the post office. Valpo would be a 2hr round trip.

Sweet deal. I was about to offer to ship it to me and I'd take it to the factory, lol....

Does the red light come on when it is placed in the charger?

If not , there are 2 contacts on the flashlight . They look like phillips style screws. Try turning them out a turn or so . I have a stinger LED and sometimes the contacts will not make connection with the charger pins. Also , check the switch . If you check closly you can tell if the switch is in the on or off position . The switch dosent stick out as far in the on position. It is under rubber so it will probably take a few times pushing it off and on to be able to tell . If the light switch is in the on position it will not charge .Or ... try charging it for 5 minites or so ,and then check for power . If not try pushing the switch and try it in 5 minutes and it should work . Back to the first check..If the light on the charger dosent light up then it is not making a circuit with the flashlight and try turning the contacts out . If this dosent work then package the light up and send it to streamlight. Hope this helps .....

Sorry ,I missed the post that said you are sending it away. Disregard my ramblings.
