We have 2 fleets around here that have those 75ton dual steer wreckers and 1 of those has those train looking internationals. Good looking trucks. I saw one of the 75 tons pulling a semi with a landall trailer with a bus on it lol

Hunter's out of Charlotte NC. This truck helped unload and reassemble the Miracle on the Hudson plane when they brought it to the museum.

I have seen more and more of a trend down here in south texas where tow trucks are taking advantage of a new law that states they can have RED well it is also allowed here in texas for tow trucks to have amber white and blue so that makes a big mess now because they are taking advantage of it and outfitting tow truck with red and blue lightbars... and no amber on the entire truck what so ever...

I even saw one tow truck company with RED tow trucks trying to look like fire trucks..

can any of you all fill me in on this??

I'm not sure why they wouldn't run any amber but according to a friend of mine the have to have red flashing lights to qualify for the move over law.

Fellow Michigander....
1.) More pictures of the Chevy.

2.) What is the Excursion (With an SLR???) used for?

The Excursion is my personal truck. I mainly use it to pull our motorcycle trailer and heavy recovery trailer. A couple weeks ago I used it to block a lane of I94 for probably 6-7 hours at a fatal semi wreck we were working. MSP kept coming and going so it was more prudent to simply use my truck for traffic control.

Here's another picture of the 1980 Chevy (Which is going up for sale soon if anyone wants it):

Trying to get the Idea to as many people as we can. The Iowa State Fair Parade has over 30,000 people lined up watching us drive by. What a way to get the message out. And A great was to show off some awesome Tow Trucks.

I was coming home one night and there was a sea of red lights down the road from me...I slowed down because I saw one big rig with a lot of red lights moving so I figured Mr. Fire Truck needed to leave for something else. It didn't move towards me so I began to drive again and as I got closer it was all tow trucks! Some big crash. I don't mind our truck having red in our state but it does get me going when I remind myself that in SAR I can't have any red lights yet I sometimes put myself in just as crazy situations as any tow truck does...oh well. Three days out of the week I get blue lights so it's all good.

Here's the rig I thought was a fire truck: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=622634954435026&set=pb.155065657858627.-2207520000.1376636202.&type=3&theater

There's a lot of red lights on that thing.

Do FD and PD agencies with wreckers only use them for their own equipment? I never fully understood why NYPD or LAFD have their own tow trucks. Besides using them for lifting aircraft I guess?

Not really sure what the NYPD Wreckers are really used for but the LAFD trucks are listed as heavy rescue trucks and they are used to help stabilize buildings that are in danger of falling down also used in helping hold vehicles that have gone off the sides of bridges and cliffs.
