Check out this unique item.

NECO siren light combo model MD. It appears to be unused. Found in the attic of an old funeral home. It’s 6 volt with a cigarette lighter plug on the cord. The packing newspapers are dated 1951. "Tested it and I think the fact that the window needs to be open and the siren is in your ear might be why they stopped making them."

Identified by Dan M as a rebranded Federal Model VL Siren

"Model MD" hmmm....Medical Doctor Light? Pretty cool, I love it!

That's an amazing find! Really cool light/siren! Its condition and the carrying case gives new meaning to the term NIB. Plus it came with Labatt Blue? Too bad that's open and gone... lol

Thankfully older vehicles had thicker glass. What's the weight on that bad boy?

I was just about to say something along those lines. Today's side windows would just shatter and...well...bye-bye, blinky/woo-woo thingamajigger.

Seriously though, very unique find ;)

It's not mine boys, I wish it was. I am on the dibs list. Dan is first in line I think. Either way I hope it finds its way to a good home. It was just too unique not to share the pics.

Actually, "modern" window glass (60s+) is stronger than 40s-50s as "safety" glass was required to keep shards from causing injuries. That lil' peawistle doesn't weigh al that much...as for the sound decibels, who among us remembers Super Snoop? "Say Schnoop, can I be the siren?"

Younger people in the profession now don' know what it's like to have the siren speaker on the roof right above your head. You could really hear the sound decibels then.
Dude, wat you say? Q2B on the fender (driver side) open cab (Maxim 6S) wound up tighter than a 10 day clock? Oh wait, Cincinnati cab forward riding jump seat 1st nozzle next to a Wakishaw inline 6 grinding out the hp to get us there...it's no wonder I have hearing loss...and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
It is what it is...and you are better for it. And that's a good thing!
