Anyone have a write up on how to put tir6's into a dashmiser hosing? I want to do two single units one Red and one blue. I thought ive seen someone that has done this on here before but can't find the post.

Seems like it'd be pretty cut & dry. Remove an endcap on each unit, slide in TIR6 on each one, replace endcaps, run wiring out of the hole on each one and splice them together as far as hot, ground and sync goes, unless you plan on running them off a flasher.

This was actually offered by Whelen, a few years ago, in single, and double. A red one sold , in the last few days, for $49. Very bright, very directional. Nice light.

Yea i saw that on ebay, but forgot about bidding on it!

TIR6 LED modules slide right in to a Dashmiser housing with no modification, but it has to be a 500 series housing and not a series 52. If you have a housing you are considering doing the conversion with, and are not sure of the series, there is usually a sticker indicating the correct series on the housing. If there is no sticker, the three tabs on the top and bottom of the strobe or halogen light module you remove from it is the tipoff to it being a 500 series. If it has those tabs, a TIR6 module will work in the housing. If it is smooth across the top and bottom of the module, it is a series 52, and the TIR6 module will not work.

UPDATE and disclaimer: Based on the posts below, this info may not be accurate.

I just recently removed some 52 series strobes from 3 dual Dashmisers, and installed TIR6 heads. with no problem. they slid in perfectly, like they were made for it.

Yes, you can put 500 series lightheads in housiungs for 52s, but you can't put 52s into housing for 500s...

Oops, sorry for the misinformation. I posted it mostly because of prior hearsay but also based on personal experience. I have tried to put a TIR6 in a series 52 housing before and it wouldn't fit. However, the housing was metal instead of plastic, so they wasn't any type of give or tolerance. I guess it being nonflexible metal made the difference, because the plastic housings have some flex to them that can be manipulated if there is any initial resistance to getting the TIR6 to slide into the tracks.
