Hey everyone. Does the Tir6 need as much rear clearance to be surface mounted as the lin6 does? What I mean by that is, w/ the Lin6s if you want to surface mount them they stick out 2-3". Is it the same w/ the tir6? or does it sit a little closer to the surface?

So for example w/ this picture. Is the TIR6 sitting on the surface, or is there likely a cutout in the fender as well w/ some of it sticking inside?

Surface. It would only require a 3/4ish in hole for the wiring nub, plus the 2 screw holes.

The Lin6 is deeper. Tir6 is not as deep as the Lin6, because linear lights require a larger, round reflector to disperse the warning punch; because of this, you may see the lin6 mounted on some vehicles w/ a bracket that pushes it out from the surface it's being mounted on, to avoid havin to make a cutout on the vehicle. Likewise, this is also why the super small & thin lightheads you see (brookings ST6, Nova SD24, ion/ghost surface mount, etc.) are generally TIR lightheads
