I am a Tomar distributor. While you may think this may make me bias in my review, I am giving my full and honest opinion as a CONSUMER. If anybody has any questions or comments, I'd be happy to field them

Tomar has recently unveiled a windshield mount bracket for their RECT13 and RECT14 lighthead product lines. These mounts come for standard windshields, as well as "vertical" mounts for back glass and side windows. You can order these with or without cig plugs. I have acquired a RECT13LS + windshield bracket, in amber, for demo purposes. I opted for the non-cig plug version (which is also handy, if you want to sync these models).

The mounting "bracket" itself is made of a sturdy, heavy duty plastic molding. They affix to the glass via a sort of sticky tape, instead of suction cups. This is really the only problem I see with the mounts themselves, as a lot of customers have grown use to bail bracket or suction cup applications. Personally, I would have preferred some sort of side bracket system for suction cups, much like Tomar's other dash lights. Time will tell how the sticky tape will hold up, but I've been advised it will still allow for remounting in different locations, if the first installation site is no longer needed. The shroud also has a wide angle, so it makes use of the RECT series' optics for off-axis light output.

The lighthead is screwed onto a metal plate inside of the shroud/bracket housing and sits deep within the bracket. The plate that the lighthead sits on is affixed to the shroud/bracket via a screw, on either side. This allows for the user to adjust the angle of the lighthead (which is important AND nice to have, since windshields aren't 'one size fits all').

Overall, as a cost-effective dash light for VFF's and other folks on a budget - this is a NICE little package.

Overall score: 8.5/10

Cost: Contact me for pricing and options.

Note: There is NO price difference between the standard windshield mount and the vertical mount.
