I have a few of these Tremco anti-theft switches that are specifically made for the 2005-2011 Ford Crown Vic. These are used by the Federal government(FBI, Secret Service, U.S. Mint Police, DEA, ATF, U.S. Marshalls Service, many State Police agencies, AND MANY MORE) in their vehicles(per Tremco's website at http://www.tremcoantitheft.com/ ) There are many different agencies that use these so they can leave their cars running at scenes and prevents people from stealing their cars. This is a great alternative to a remote start too, especially in the winter time. I sometimes will start my car, pull the switch and get ready for work. These are plug and play with NO modifications, simply unplug the factory harness under the neck of the steering column and plug this one in and using 2 wire ties secure the control box to the underside of the dash/steering area and 1 small bolt and nut to secure the switch out of site under the dash. Detailed instructions show where everything mounts and how it works are provided with each unit and it only takes 10-15 mins tops to install. These are used and I have 2 or 3 of them. $45 each shipped(these new are generally well over $100 but Tremco DONT sell to anyone other than LAW ENFORCEMENT- so you can get one here).  I have one in my car and love it! Check out their website for more info. THESE DONT COME AVAILABLE VERY OFTEN SO GET YOURS NOW !

Youre right, they built 2011's into the 2012 build year, last one produced 9/15/2011...Trust me I know all about them
