We have an older brush rig with a PA-300 siren. It's gone beserk.

When in MAN mode, it makes a sort of weak steady tone without touching the MAN switch. When you push the MAN paddle switch the tone changes up a bit but sounds weird. when you release the MAN switch it goes back to the weak solid sound.

it seems to work properly when you change from MAN mode to WAIL or YELP or HiLo

its the style with the black plastic Man/Horn paddle switch, not the chrome/metal toggle style button.

Bad switch?

You could open it up, and take the switch out of the equation. Does it still sound off? If so switch. My money though is on the Capacitors, look for any bulging or failing caps on the PCB.
