My department just purchased a used 2015 Interceptor Utility for use as a chiefs buggy. In it is a 3M SupeRex 3 ALPR Processor with GPS and all the cables, sans camera's or software. We obviously don't need to be reading plates responding to fires, so we need to get rid of this. Depending on the value of this unit, we hope to use the money from sale of this to offset the cost of up fitting up to a total of 3 vehicles.

Anybody know what the value to sell this would be at and who to sell it to? I'm thinking maybe a police department or repo company? Or does 3M have a buy back program? Any insight would be great!
Thanks!!

I would write down the serial number and then contact the manufacturer.

Some of those were bought by large-scale vendors and then lent out to agencies, like LoJack receivers so to speak. I've heard that some were even purchased by insurance companies. So while the unit may have been in the custody of the vehicle's previous owner, the device itself may still belong to a different entity.
