Ok radio guys need some help here. An any help would be nice I don't know alot about radio's. So I figure I would turn here. My wife and her family have a farm where we use radios to talk between trucks and equipment. They have Vertex Standard radio. An the company they got them from has gone out of business. An I am trying to find out how if they are UHF or VHF so I can get some more to put in the new trucks. On the mobile it does not say. The only thing on it is VX-200-DO-50 and the serial number. I took it to another radio shop that is close to me and they we not able to decode the other radio to see what it was or the freq they are using..... any advice???

Please double check the model number and provide the SN. Not sure with the Vertex, but I remember that some companies code the freq into the SNs.

Assuming that the previous dealer helped the farm license them when they were setup, you might want to try and locate the farm's radio license in the FCC database online, and see what frequncy they are licensed for.

After December 31, the VX200 radios are not legal for use on a business frequency and will need to be replaced with a narrowband compliant radio. The farm will also need to update their license for narrowband compliance before then.

Hope you find the info you need in the database.

vhf 140-170 is that VX200 model.5 watts and as previous poster mentioned it is not 12.5 narrowband capable.
