Vintage Tomar 925 Question

Guys,


I picked up a very nice early model Tomar 925 lightbar. It has the Non-Potted power supplies. The 3 lens sections have the black tops, which is the same as the Jetsonic. I know that Tomar had silver tops, but this bar has the Tomar 925 metal tags on the lenses, and they appear to have never been removed. The question I am asking is if anyone knows if Tomar started with the Black tops, then transitioned into the Silver tops? I picked up a set of NOS Jetstram lenses, and am going to have new vinyl tops cut at a sign shop for them, but want to get them in the correct color.

Im no expert but I thought that the 925 started out with black tops. Fedsig only had black tops on the early syncro Jetsonics.


Again, just my two bits. Someone more proliferate in Tomar should know this much more than I.

I would like to hear the explanation for that!


We used to call the original generation SVP Impulse bars, that had the "double bubble" endcaps, titty bars cause they resembled a pair of protruding breasts.

So in theory if I wanted to..I could take an empty jet-stream chassis and fill it with Tomar's parts? that sounds like a good idea for my empty one.
