I was just wondering if anyone knew of any departments in Mass where they had vol. EMT's. I really wanted to get into this, but just couldn't find many sites regarding this information.

I would be interested in either the Westfield area or Taunton area.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about Taunton...

But Westfield area, if you head out on Rt 20, those are all volunteer departments that way.

(Plus, you may just want to consider getting a per diem EMT job with one of the Springfield area private companies... work a shift here and there and get experience. That's what I usually recommend.)

Unfortunately you aren't going to find much in the way on the internet... your best bet is to get on the phone and call the Fire / EMS departments in the neighboring towns and ask what they have set up. Even if they don't have positions available, they would know the local departments better than I do.

Some of the larger departments may even have a "call force" type set up where you could do calls.

Good luck!

My whole family lives in Westfield and both uncle's are cops there.

Southwick is next to Westfield and is Volunteer. I can ask my uncle's about other places near there.

What's the difference between per diem and a call force? I'm pretty sure per diem is paid-per-call I think.. And would these be using my own vehicle or one of the companies?

Thanks for the help Zach!

I would really appreciate that!

I called Southwick which I believe is about 10 minutes away, but they said they only really take Southwick residents. It's upsetting but I understand where they are coming from..
