Curious to know what radios everyone uses either their personal or what there depts use? On my FD the officers are issued HT1250. In the engines we have PR400s but are possibly switching to CP 200s. I don't remember off the top of my head what the mobile radios we have in all the trucks are though. We are allowed to buy are own radios if we want. A few of us have. I have a tk 2180 that I carry.

We have ht1000's left over from the old system, and still have them for pager dispatch and backup fireground. Currently we are using apx7000s in the trucks, and apx6000s for portable radios.

My ambulance squad issues all VHF Motorola gear:

Every member gets a Minitor V.

All Paramedics, EMT's and a couple of drivers are issued CP200XLS portables.

The ambulance has three CDM1250LS+ 50 watt mobiles.

The base radio is a 50 watt CDM1250 with Zetron 19B store and forward for backup activation.

My personal radios are a 25 watt CDM1250 in the truck and a couple of spare CP150 portables.

Three of the Paramedics also have mobiles: a CDM1250, and Icom F-121, and a Vertex VX-2200.

There's a CDM1250 sitting in a box waiting to be installed in the EMS Chief's truck.

I also have a UHF M1225 mobile in the truck for GMRS plus a CP150 UHF portable.

We have a 100 watt Quantar repeater on a small tower a couple of miles outside the village. The county owns it, but it's located at our highway department's building. Due to geography and coverage issues, we are the primary user day to day.

Personally, I have 2 VHF HT1000, one VHF HT750, and one VHF HT1250.

My FD has CDM1250s in all apparatus and other department vehicles, and some kind of Motorola portable that feels cheap in my hands. I'll pull the model number at lunch time.

Motorola XTS 2500 portables, XTL 2500 and 5000 mobiles. The 5000's were replacements from sprint/nextel rebanding.

My company (construction/utilities) did use HT1000's and MCS2000 and now Kenwood TK-3180 and TK-8160 and TK-8180. We also have some HT1250 and a few CDM1550 that slipped in before we figured out that there would be problems with remote heads. Most of our heavy equipment that has a mounted radio and supervisors trucks use a remote head radio so for the past few years that has been a TK-8180. Crew trucks and larger trucks have just a standard radio which at this point could be any of the above but in the future will be TK-8180's as well just without the remote kit. My truck has a TK-8180 and a HT-1250, I also have a HT1000 on my desk that I haven't used in more then a year.

FD: Motorola Mt1500 with speak mic in strap

CDM1250 in all trucks

CDM1250 in most, some gm300, one has 2 ken woods, state trucks have 1250s, xtl2000, and some type of 800mghz band radio

OEM/HazMat: HT1250 pr MT1500 (intrinsically safe) with speaker mix in radio strap. If air, we have the Scott Comm system for radios that attach to the mask with a ptt on harness of frame.

All have cdm 1250

NJ EMS Task Force: XTS 2500 or XTS 5000. With speaker mic and either on belt or in radio strap

Mix and match of cdm1250, cdm 1550s, xtl2000, and some type of 800mghz

PD: HT 1000 or HT1250 with speaker miss clipped on duty belt. If at a bar post or situation where notice may be a problem I through an ear wig in.

FD,Ems, Rescue, OEM, HAZMAT are all in VHF

PD and EMS Task Force are in UHF.

We work off of a Motorola analog 800 mhz trunking system. At dispatch, we use Moto Gold Elite consoles, with Spectra Astros as back up radios. We have 2 XTS5000 walkies for when we run errands and go to meetings. I have a XTS2500 and a E F Johnson 51SL for off duty use and when I'm out with the fire rehab unit...

Totally forgot about this until just now. The portables in the trucks are XPR 6350s.

When I'm at my "real job" we have XTS 5000s on (I believe) an 800 system... but I don't normally have any use for those so I don't really care.

We use the same mobile and portable radios (5000s & 2500).

Quick question though...

What is that large Motorola radio head? I have never seen that before. Is it a radio-siren combination system?

O9 head for the APX 7500, siren, light control, plus radio control in one head. That said, you also need the radio drawer and the light/siren remote box to make the system work.

MTS2000s and Astro Spectras. But we got the letter today about the P25 upgrade so the portables will probably be out around October.
