A 54" Dietz Omni-Chief of course! I snagged this bad boy for exactly $10, The Pictures don't really show it, but it was in rough shape. I Hope you enjoy my quick restoration job on it, I had a lot of fun on this one for sure. Unfortunately It is still incomplete, I still need a set of bands/belts for it!!! The lightbar as I received it:

Beautiful restoration, now you just have to come up with some sort of belt system to turn the rotators.

Well, I didn't feel like waiting around for NOS bands/belts, So I made My own. :D I went to my local Advance auto parts store and discussed what I was looking for with an employee, who was very helpful and after a long discussion, he went in the back room and brought out a spool of 3/32 vacuum tubing.

Great improvising! I loved your video the bar makes an awesome light show, but it needed some music to dance to! Shaking your booty to a great beat while enjoying a light show is the only way to do it!

Mad MacGyver skills. That vacuum tubing will no doubt out last the O ring stock I had earlier suggested. Great solution!

And with a quickness.

its kind of ironic.....the bar doesnt have flashers in it, but just how the lights when they're rotating hit the mirrors...............makes it look like it has flashers.

Nice improvision on making belts for it

You just gave hope to whoever has one of these Omni-Chiefs that doesn't have good belts or no belts. Awesome resto work there, sir:thumbsup:  !

I couldn't stand to put the bar up on the wall knowing it wasn't finished 100%, and knowing that I would have a hard time finding belts, I got to work and made something! :haha:

I really hope other people with Omni-Chief's will find this thread and I hope it helps them finish Their bars. I know how it feels to have no hope for finishing a bar and then to have a readily available, easy to make, and cheap replacement come along... Priceless!!! :celebrate:  Thank you for the kind words!!!

My dad leased a new wrecker for one of his service stations back around 77-78. I remember several things about it. After the heavy rubber smell inside the fresh new cab I most remember the Dietz Omni-Chief lightbar (amber/amber). Seeing this restored Omni-Chief all lit up COMPLETELY reminds of what ours looked like (the profile, the exact flash patters, etc) almost four decades ago. And it is amazing to me how performance-impressive the simple design was. No step mirrors. Just a pair of rotators located midway on each end with v-mirrors. HUGE kudos, by the way, on the rotor-belt innovation. That might be even better than the original Dietz belts. Thanks for sharing!!

The Omni chief I had had the rotators spinning in different directions. This is accomolished by crossing over one of the rubber belts. This will spin them in opposite directions. Very nice rebuild.
