The Whelen 295HFRS4 siren amp- can it be controlled with regular switches? I've seen a bunch for sale at great prices but they connect to the controller with only 3 wires, making me think that the controller is needed to make the siren work.

I removed the 'R' from the model number, and found this manual: http://www.whelen.com/install/130/13087.pdf
The 3 wire cable that connects the remote control head to the siren amplifier is referred to throughout the manual as a communication cable, not as a control cable.
