Greetings, I picked up a Whelen Commander 5200 and I hope to get it working but I don’t know much about strobes. I replaced the flash tube but all I have are a black with white stripe wire, a white wire and a tan wire. The red and black for the cruise light work but I dont know how get power to the tube and I dont want to damage it. It appears in the photo that’s something is missing

It seems that domes for this model are hard to find. Does anyone know where i might find a decent red or blue dome? Thanks in advance for any help.
Dave

I'm not familiar with Commanders, but I do know that strobe tubes require a strobe power supply. Strobe tubes require the 3 wires you have, but I'm only familiar with the later versions with the red/black/white strobe wires. I'm sure somebody with more knowledge of the Commanders will chime in.

What more do you have than the mounting plate?
Do you have the inner fresnel lens and the two retainer springs and do you have the cast base?

You do not need the original power supply to have it going.
Buy a small remote power supply that have at least one output of about 15-16 Joules that will fitt between the mounting plate and the bottom of the base and you will have it going.
You need a contact hosing for the three cables that will match the power supply. The most common is AMP.
One cable is anode, one is catode and one is the trigger. I can not say which one at the moment.

I’ve got all that, apperently everything but the power supply. Thanks for that info, I’ll start looking and maybe I’ll be able to figure out the wiring without destroying anything.
Thanks again!
