Wondering what the deal is on this bar. Its a Mini Edge 9000 Lightbar SSNMFEDP. I'm told its a "snow plow" model right from whelen. What makes it a snow plow model? What was the specifics? Is it the DOT model? I know that one had the flashers flash with the corresponding strobe and not independent of the strobe like a standard model. Thanks for the help.

P.S. I was also told it needs a separate power supply. Is it a special supply that flashes the flashers with the strobes? Model number if so?

How many strobes? How many flashers? Positions? That's just to start off.
There is a power supply that handles strobes and halogen flashers together. I just saw a flyer on it the other day so I know of where to find it. The CT DOT ran the strobe and flashers together (rear of dump body above brake lights) since they came out.
Didn't know they made a specific lightbar/mini bar, but makes sense that they would.
Give me a couple minutes and I will see what I can find.

IMG_0073.PNG IMG_0074.PNG Ok. Did some digging. Could be what Rhode Island used for there DOT trucks. Found quite a few literature pages on the DOT systems built/designed by Whelen. None had a mini bar. But as I knew there where strobe and halogen combined power supply and flasher. They would be synchronized. This would be to cut through adverse weather conditions and make the DOT truck more visible. Here is a couple screen shots on the supply/flasher.

Here is also an installation manual for one of the supplies.

Hope this helps.

NHDOT used them on all their pickup trucks, suburbans and cars before switching to the mini freedoms they have now. They did use the ISP4HS power supply and two toggle switches to control them. The were the Whelen heavy duty white toggle switches. Some vehicles still have them but most have been changed to LED.

What does the wire harness consist of coming out of the bar?

Thanks for the clarification on who used them. I found some info, didn't say where but I took a guess at Rhode Island... and it ends up I wasn't far off for location.

Hey all,

I think I have one of these bars as well. Any chance these can be converted to an internal power supply?

I picked up mine cheap from ebay. I would like the bar to function, but can wait for another "cheap" mini to pop up and use the two for parts.

I also read up on the "blink thread" but would tather not have extra electronics in the car.
