Whelen Freeze Alarm

Picked up one finally in great shape. Is the 40 watt bulb correct for this light. I do not want to melt the lens. What is the small socket for behind it. Night light bulb? Thanks

Coop, 40 Watt is correct. The small is an on stand by light, similar to a cruise light. Clear 7 1/2 Watt night light bulb. This was an option. I just picked up another model without the stand by/on bulb.
I have a full set of the 6 models and vintages that I know of that were offered.

I have one as well without the standby light. I have no idea where the controller went.
