Whelen IO board help

I picked up a few liberty bars today. All had the regular power cable, but some had a cable with multiple color wires and some had a cable with just three wires. Whats the difference and the one with three wires do i need a controller like the cencom to use it? Thanks

If these are serial Liberty bars, the three wires should be light blue, grey, and a bare shield/drain wire. These are known as the SC series Liberty. The installation manual for serial bars is here:
