I believe the PAR 36s are also labeled 200 series...? I've seen that label floating around too...

43 series was replaced by the 400s then replaced by the m4s

64 series was replaced by the 600s then replaced by the m6s

73 series was replaces by the 700s then replaced by the m7s

97 series was replaced by the 900s then replaced by the m9s

52 series was replaced by the 500

I believe the old Whelen numbering system started with the size of the lighthead

52 series = 500 = 5x2

73 series = 700 = 7x3

44 series = 400 = 4x4

etc

I believe thats right. I remember the Whelen 43 series. The good old DashMaster 4X3 strobes. and a few of the older ones that haven't been seen in forever.

You are correct in your assumption. The *00 designation assigned by Whelen corresponds to the size, in inches, of the lighthead.
