The Avenger is the newer/brighter “version” of the Talon. The Talon started out as a ballast unit, older models you will actually hear a “clicking” noise as the supply fires. Newer versions were upgraded to the standard led flasher models. The Avenger series feature newer/Brighter diodes in them

The Talon series has 8 diodes per lighthead:

The Avenger series has a section of grey plastic at the center of the rear:

The Talon series has a recessed pattern select button on the rear:

The brackets for the Talon series and Avenger series are not interchangeable, as the holes for the mounting screws are different distances apart.

There is also a Dual Avenger, with built in LR-11 Takedowns that has the pattern select button built into the light(Similar to the Talon), and the 2nd switch on the cigar plug controls the Takedowns.
