Getting ready for another restoration project. Dont have the car yet so I guess I will have to build the car around this great looking 37 year old siren that looks brand new. Love the way Whelen used the little diagrams, symbols, and characters to describe the different siren tones. Siren dated at 1981.IMG_0247 (1).JPG

What a beaut....

How much older of a siren was the WS-224 and offhand are either the WS-224 or 295 that costly? I've been hoping to acquire either for my first bar restoration project. Nothing too elaborate, restoring an older Force 4 LP 6000 and want the Z100LP speaker in it to run an older siren. Waiting for an older black-face PA-300 to arrive, but I'll be getting another speaker and want to have some sort of dual-tone setup with either an older Carson/SVP SA-400 or a WS-224 or WS-295 as the other siren. It's a tough choice, because they all sound so nice.

The 224 and 295 were both featured in Whelen's 1990 dated catalog so I would assume they were both around together for quite some time. My 295 is dated 1981, and its still in their 1990 catalog. A lot of these vintage siren controls in decent condition can be had for around $100 give or take.103074_7bfa9ba2d861e5582115e522d4d7cb2c.jpg

Thank you for posting that, kerry! Looking at that page in the catalogue is pretty interesting stuff. Look at the prices for features that we now take for granted! As of 1990, what was Whelen's top-end siren/control system? I guess what was the 1990 equivalent of CanTrol or Carbide?
