Xterra hlf

Looking to add a hlf to my vehicle. Only trouble is I'm worried bout the canbus system. Can a hlf be wired In same as normal or will it require diodes. I feel like I'm grossly overthinking this. But the xterras have a tendency to fry the bcm if stuff is done wrong.

What year I used to have one way back when they first came out and never had issues with the bcm

It's a 2014. I know a couple of the guys on the forums have fried bcms just replacing incandescent with led bulbs
