Thanks everyone. Having an issue with MPSCS which has been diagnosed by our radio service, but I am the type of person who likes to understand "the why".. I guess this could relate to trunking in general.

Both a portable and mobile have scan enabled and set to a main dispatch TG. Portal physically switches to a second TG and the mobile, even in scan mode, does not hear the transmission. Because this TG is used exclusively with this department, at this time no other radio would be on this second TG except the portable. We have been told that this can be caused by one of the two radios switching towers, and if both radios are physically switched to the second TG we will hear the transmission, just not in scan mode if the radios are on two different towers.

I thought, once a radio affiliates with a tower, the ZC would pass all traffic that radio has in it's zone through that tower, but it appears it would only do this on the TG the radio is physically switched too??

The L just happens to be on the mobile that couldn't hear a portable in this case. It only appears on this second TG.
