XTS 5000 "concentric" switch

On my mobile radio (xts5000 model II), there is a switch that is attached to the bottom of the channel knob. It is a two position switch and one side is a circle with a line through it and the other is an open circle.

You mean your 'portable' radio? XTS is a portable, XTL is a mobile.


Yes, there's that switch. It can be programmed for many things, but normally as the encryption, secure (ø) / non-secure (o).

A lot of FD's around here program theirs to unlock & unlock keypad in case they bump the radio the radio while in fire or rescue ops..
