I Agree.. I actually hate doing funeral escorts they kinda are a waste of time when you have a very busy office and lots of other stuff to do and get stuck with a funeral detail.

What lights are next to the 3rd brake light?  They are bright.

Oh, and I hate funeral details, which is why I'm very glad agencies in the Atlanta area don't normally do them, but my south GA department did.  Very dangerous.

The light next to the third break light is a newer generation Whelen Avenger light made for the crown vic. I bought it from FEVER.

IIRC there was a funeral procession on 249 in north Houston last year that caused a fatal accident due to the escorts doing a big traffic break across all lanes.  I'll try to find an article on it.

I understand paying tribute to the dead, but essentially shutting down a major freeway over a 7 mile span just so a line of people can drive down it at lower than the posted speed limit?  The risk/reward ratio seems a bit skewed.

Code 3 for a funeral procession!?!?  We certainly don't do that here.  They are slow and rolling quiet and rarely led by LEO's.  Usually just the hearse or funeral car/van as the lead.
