Okay I'll play to.

My favorite would have to be the Sikorsky UH-60

Made in the U.S.A.

Combat Proven

According to US Army Standards:

BLACKHAWK load options

6 litter + 1 ambulatory

3 litter + 4 ambulatory

7 ambulatory

SUBTRACT 1 AMBULATORY WHEN PARAMEDIC or MD or PAC or PULMONOLOGIST or RRT or RN MUST ACCOMPANY PATIENTS

AND ... you can run 2 mini guns to LOL

Show me a civilian chopper that can fly 6 patients, 2 weeks ago there was an MVA localy where they had to fly 4 PT's out. Which required 4 birds...and 3 went to the same hospital so there was a waiting time to land on the pad

Most Medevacs are performed by the NJ State Police Aviation unit. Backups for that, and for inter-facility transport there are a few privately owned helicopters.

Top is a Sikorsky S76-B Operated by NJSP

Next is a AgustaWestland AW139 Operated the NJSP and is replacing the S-76s

Next is a Eurocopter EC135 operated by MONOC.

And we also deal with the US Coast Guard a lot with Water rescues, boater in distress, disabled vessels. When we do we usually deal with a MH-65 Doplhin or MH-60 Jayhawk.

We don't use MedEvacs often as we have a trauma center within our district. We will set up a secondary landing zone if the landing pad is out of service, there was a crash on the pad/disabled helicopter, or if multiple helicopters coming at once and cannot wait.

ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION [HENRY UNIT] - 1986 BELL 206L-3

Not a medical helicopter, but they occaisionally fly in to inspect our helipad. IDOT did fly medical flights in the past near central and southern Illinois, but they canceled that program about 10 years ago or so.

Normally they only fly when called. Most sit in hangers at an airport and some sit on helli-pads. Normally they don't like to have them up and running, unless there is a need for them, as I was told once by a buddy who flies that it costs right around $200 just to start up the one he flies. Here is an interesting video of Cleveland Metro Life Flight landing at Burke Lakeside Airport.

They have sirens :)
