That sucks.
I wonder how that will play out seeing how he was off duty, will he get LOD benifits eventhough he was working a private escort? I am seriously shocked that an experienced Police Motorcycle Officer would pass or overtake on the right. That is pretty much the first thing you are taught in escort training. Both car and motor, always run to the left. I also wonder why he was trying to get ahead of the hearse if they were turning right in to the cemetary.
