Oneida County Deputy Kevin Wyman dies after 6 hour stand off

Police probing how standoff turned deadly - Utica, NY - The Observer-Dispatch, Utica, New York


Deptuy Wyman was shot above his protective vestat approx. 2AM today after an armed 6 hour stand off.


He leaves behind a wife, 18 month old son and parents.


The sad part is that as I write this his widow is deliverling their second child.(Just got word the baby is here).

From what I have heard from the extended family mom and baby are doing well. At the memorial service the Sheriff retired Kurt's badge # and patrol unit # then presented the badge to his 18 month old son. The highest honor to this is that he is being buried at Arlington National Cemtery as he was also a Sgt. in the Marine Reserves.


Kurt's assailant has been formally charged with aggravated murder today.


And just yesterday there was a similar incendent here in the county. The only injury was the prep. being shot and injured by the Troopers on scene.

After 2 hour of deliberation the jury has found Christian Patterson GUILTY of all counts in the death of Kurt. Christian was lead out to a standing ovation from the auddiance including the Sheriff's Office.
