Hi folks,

I just went on a little road trip to pick-up a 50" Dominion Auto Crossbar.

On it is what looks like a Deitz 2-11 but the label says Smith&Wesson L 24 AD. It's got 4 beam and an amber dome that really looks like a FedSig's 184 in amber. The top of the dome says "F3", that's it.

I'm trying to figure out the value of the beacon, as I don't plan on keeping it. (I am keeping the crossbar, though.)

The interior is is good shape, but a bit dusty. It also has quite a thick gasket under the base. Factory or not, I have nooo idea... Pictures will follow soon.

Smith&Wesson is somewhat rare around here, but in USA, they were more common. What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks!

I believe the S&W light, and the 211 were different animals. The 211 also might have been changed to the 7-11 by the time S&W came on the scene.

The dome with the F3 is definitely a Federal 184 dome.

Thanks for the info, Dan. Much appreciated, like always.

Any idea of the value of that thing? I know a picture is worth a 1,000 words. It will follow soon. ;)

S&W actually rebranded Yankee and Signal Stat beacons. Posting pictures would help identify which one you have.

I have a pair in blue, they are DIETZ 7-11's down the domes(they read 77-212 with the DZ in a circle).

These are what mine look like:

These are thumbs, click to enlarge.

The badges on mine are faded but you can make out the Smith and Wesson logos if you look close.

The top of the dome.

Not to hijack, just showing they do exist.

Just for reference.

I have never seen a Smith & Wesson like this????

I hadn't either, that's why I kept my pair. I also added some additional pics of the badge, dome and internals.

Thanks for the information, guys.

If some of you are interested, it will most likely come up for sale shortly :)

Let us know, I'd at least like to see the pics.

All right, everyone, here are the pictures of the light.

Also, notice that the scew and bolt that holds the ring together is missing. Any idea on the value?

Thanks!

I didn't know Smith and Wesson offered the CAT model of beacons :D :weird: :bonk:

Seriously, though, that's a pretty unique beacon. I'm sure you can find a replacement bolt for the retaining band at a hardware store. The dome is a Federal F3 dome for 184/CJ184/CJ284 beacons. If it had the correct Dietz dome it'd be worth a little more, but as it sits now, you might be looking at a decent price to sell it still. A S&W branded Dietz is hard to come across, especially in that shape  .

I'll swap you a similar-condition Dietz dome for that 184 if you'd be interested...

I agree, a S&W branded Dietz 211 is pretty rare, far more Signal Stat rebranded beacons out there. Value? Hmmm... it's a tough market right now, definitely leaning in favor of buyers. Given that a Dietz 211 fetches $100 to $130 and this one being a S&W rebrand, I dunno, maybe $150 to $170? But you definitely need to trade that Federal 184 dome for a Dietz dome.

The cat, on the other hand... you'd probably have to pay someone to take the S&W cat. :haha:

Do you have a picture of the dome you're offering to trade?

Thanks for the infos, everyone

I'll check with the idea of swapping the dome for a corect S&W one, although the shipping of the dome would kill any profit margin.

Rest assured: the cat isn't going anywhere. :D

Very true on the shipping costs... I forgot you're a bit further north than I. Plus the international fees and what-not... My domes are just standard amber Dietz domes, not a S&W dome. I have a few in similar condition as your 184. I have a few 184's and 284's as well as CJ's that i'll be listing on fleabay and I may have someone that would want an amber dome. I have clear, red, blue but no amber. Figured it'd be nice to have one in case someone wants an amber beacon. You're probably right though. The shipping alone will wreck the profit-margin for both of us!
