SPLIT-FAIL

When a light head or series of light heads have 2 different colors and are neither syncd or set to an alternating pattern that allow a period of "off" time. Commonly set to a too fast of a flash pattern and from a distance is perceived as a steady burn light or purple when using red & blue.

These grill lights are borderline split fail. Imagine them being unsynced and set to a really fast pattern. Voila! You have split fail. I'm sure someone else has videos handy showing a good example of a split fail.

When a lighthead has a split flash pattern, or split colors (i.e. the light is divided into multiple portions, each flashing separately, or with a separate color) its effective size and brightness is dramatically diminished. Some people tend to think this looks cool, but "looking cool" is usually dead last on the list of things to look for in an effective visual warning light setup.
