Do they still have ppl report on items or are they now self policing? On what planet would a Whelen MPC01 controller be a "police" item subject to violation?

I have tried to contest "violation" items. No use. They just do not care. I am wondering is someone is monitoring my items and just out of spite, reporting it.

Yeah I’ve wondered that too. As for contesting I tried to explain a light was white but eBay kept telling me it was red blue. They really don’t care and won’t actually investigate.
I think it is all reports as well. I have begun to block buyers who make stupid lowball offers as I have found a correlation to denying their offer and my items being removed.
I have successfully contested an item removal by showing them that the model number from Whelen indicated that an item was amber and not red/blue.

I am 100% convinced that your sales get pulled from people reporting. I posted things in FB and all of sudden some of my Auctions started getting flagged.
Ebay really needs to get rid of that bullshit policy. Its as silly as it is stupid.
I've tried posting certain things at different times and noticed an early weekend posting or posting around the holidays permitted some things to stay listed longer, so I'm also convinced it's user reporting. The takedown notice always references a report, too. Unfortunately, blocking a buyer does not block them from seeing your listings.
