Hello all I'm new to here and don't know if I'm in the right area, but Im learning on how to properly wire emergency lights. I'm trying to wire 6 mpowers to my brake light and was wondering where the best place to tap into for a 2022 dodge durango. I don't want the BCM to be overloaded and cause it to work for a second and then not work.

Short answer, your brake signal should just trigger a relay that provides power to your 6 Mpowers.
Is your Durango a Pursuit model with the VSIM? I can’t remember what year the Pursuits first came out with the VSIM, I know 23 had them, and the VSIM has a brake signal coming out of it. Or is it a civilian, and you are looking for a brake signal from the BCM?

Its a civilian. I was thinking about tapping into the 3rd brake light since its the easiest to tap, but just didn't want to overload the bcm.

So what exactly are you trying to accomplish? I only ask because there are a few different ways to do things depending on the overall goal. You can definitely tap the third brake light, but only as a trigger. I would not recommend powering 6 lightheads off of that. The easy answer is a relay. But there are two problems with a mechanical relay. One being that you will hear it click every time you hit the brakes. The second problem, is that they are only good for so long. If this is a car that is going to be in service for 5+ years, and that relay is clicking on and off every time you use your brakes, it might not last. So depending on your setup, the mechanical relay may be best, or you might want to look into something solid-state.

I'm just looking to use say the trigger wire to power the 6 light heads. I have a relay but its going to be for say maybe year to 2 years until I can save up for either a carbide or core. What would be a good solid state?
