Dietz 7-11 differences in plus collector

The first one with 2 collecting rings is for hill lights versions, where typically, the colored bulbs were straight, and the clear ones up and down. They each had their own circuit which could be operated seperatly. The later single brush contact had all lamps on on off.

    Old Canadian beacons-lightbar set ups

Dominion Auto went bankrupt in 1999. Yep, the RCMP used Dietz 711-211's on their welded (not bolted) Dominion crossbars, as well as laege Grote 4 beamers, sometimes with the riser base.

    Old Canadian beacons-lightbar set ups

Here is mine, recreated from parts, all accurate. Matches a Montreal PD bar. These were indeed everywhere in Canada in the 80s

LP6000 55w fast rotator to slower rotator speed

I have myself a few code 3 bars where the motors have a resistor, looks 1 Watt one, in line with the motor's power lead to slow it down. Those must be like 50 cents each in any electronic surplus store. I'd have to get the proper color codes on the resistors.

Code3 SD Bar with SelectAlert + Nightprobe

Very impressive. How does it work? It is Jetsonic-ish with the pods stopping at the right spot.

Mad as a hatter for old Whelen stuff

Dan Mathieu, Whenever I see those freeze alarms of your, I always think of the first Ghotbusters movie when the inspector shuts doen the grid power, and everything goes to hell.

Mad as a hatter for old Whelen stuff

I've seen float switches used to monitor dry bilges level on barges, so someone would notice it's technically sinking and pump it out, even tough it was relayed with the automatic bilge pump. Many applications possible.

    AeroDynic gear imbalance

I had the same problem years ago with an Aerodynic. I ended up using white lithium grease. Getting it in the hole is tricky. I went to my local pharmacy/drugstore and asked at the counter a intraveinous syringe. (I explained I wasn't a junkie and was using it to grease hard to get by mechanical...

    Wanted AeroTwin Pan head screw

Hi all, I need what I believe is an easy fix, but I've had no luck on the net. I need one of the small (3/16") pan head screw. One got lost, and I searched the net to no avail. It's the little screw that secure the chain tray to the Aero frame. A bar has 2: one on each side. Surely someone...

Shipping a fragile lightbar to someone you aren't familiar with.

I shipped a beacon to a member here which is very reasonable. The split dome was the name of the game, and we all know how it' likely to get FUBAR. I went in a direction to really minimise the damage risks. I diseassembled the whole thing, piece by piece. Dome, skirt, ring, strobe supply...

Broken screw and broken tap/screw extractor

Hi all, So you are taking apart an old Aerodynic. Stuck bolts, penetrating oil, gentle taps, the works. Head snaps on you. Damn! So you up the game and drill a bit into the bolt and in you go to insert Mr. Screw Extractor. Gentle you go, geeeentle, but hey! Now this guy breaks on you as well...

    Dietz 240-1-WW "Hill Light"

Speaking of 2 beams hill lights, I have one that was made by Dominion Auto, as far as I can tell, for the Toronto airport police to be seen by aircrafts while on the tarmac. 2 beams only, both tilted upward. I'll dig up pics later.

Wanted Crossfire Aerodynic gears or whole unit

Hi all, The oscillating gears on my crossfire, (the gears activating the reflector, not the motor/gear on the rear) are crumbling in dust and sun baked totally. Looking for replacement gears , or the whole crossfire unit. Thanks.

Anyone remember the trick to wiring around the "smart parts" of a jetsonic?

I'm no smart jetsonic expert, but I am wondering about a few thing about your setup. So originally , your jetsonic is not a smart one, but you have the cam switch motor cage. As you said, you're in business with this one. For the motor brake, I never saw any kind of mechanical brake on a jet...
