The purpose of this thread is to invite contributions by those with first-hand knowledge and experience on the subject. The goal is to have a stickied thread where someone might be able to find information on which dome or domes will fit their specific beacon. Hopefully we can come to an agreement on a specific format in which to post data that makes it easy to read and understand - for example, listing the light make and model (and version or generation, if it is important to fitment) and the p/n or stampings on the original dome if available or known, then below that each replacement and substitute dome known to fit, listed by manufacturer and model number or stamping info, each on a separate line:

Federal Signal 184 - factory dome marked F3, p/n xxxxxxxxxx:
- North American Signal 400X, p/n 400XL-33X
- Stratolite 80, p/n ????
- Etc.

That is just a suggestion, if you have a better idea, please chime in. Obviously we will need the cooperation of site admins and moderators to edit posts (move info from a contributor's post into the original post listing the specific beacon being discussed) and keep the thread clean. We have a large community with lots of experience and knowledge, much of it as irreplaceable as some of the lights we love. If we come together and share this information, we all benefit and make our hobby even more enjoyable!

Jman and I are looking to streamline the site, slim it down to a few very specific sections and add "permanent sections" like this and a real catalog archive. This is a great idea.

Federal Signal large dome 17/173/174/175/176 and Model 11/14/100 use the same diameter dome. Same diameter also fits Dietz 240/7-40.

Federal Signal Fireball/Flashball FB/FB11-12/FBH11-12 teardrop dome also interchanges with Dietz/Tuff Bilt 7-07 teardrop beacon.

If someone doesn't mind the cosmetic anomalies, almost any 2-beam domes are mostly interchangeable other than the Dietz and Grote beacons due to their taller "guts". Grote domes can be used on the "14-Series" beacons but not visa-versa due to height constraints. Stratolite 77 domes will fit almost ANY 2-beam beacon if you (again) don't mind the cosmetics.
