I was tasked with creating a grass fire truck for a department 2 counties away. The chief had never spec'd a truck before and was a very nervous chief. Treating him with kid gloves and keeping extremely informed help him very well.

2010 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel.

Chief asked for used equipment to keep cost down.

1- Federal Signal 10 strobe vista with alleys, t/ds and front and rear flashers.

1- Federal signal SW300 switch box.

1- Federal Signal PA300 siren

1- Federal Signal Dynamax speaker

1- Motorola CDM1250 UHF

1- Laird coax w/ mini uhf and Laird phantom antenna

1- Whelen CSP660 strobe kit.

1- Finley Fire Trailblazer grass fire skid unit with dual pumps. 1- low pressure water and 1- high pressure foam pro system.

The siren and Radio are just mocked up for pics. I removed their existing equipment from their old truck and split loomed everything with 1.5" loom.

i wouldve liked to see a back rack mounted, and the lightbar mounted to that. It would also give you a place to mount some rear floods.

looks great so far!

I like the truck and the Vista looks good on it. I would have gone with a Used Liberty LED bar. As well is that how you mounted the radio, siren and switches. I would have cut out the OEM console to fit the equipment.

In speaking with the makers of backrac they would not warranty any structural integrity issues with mounting a 65 pound light bar that catches a lot of wind being mounted on their product.

I did try though!

I would have loved to sell them anything but the vista...They wanted a light bar for $200 and thats what I sold them. Trust me if I could have made more money on this project I would have.

As for the mounted equipment in the vehicle, that is where their engineer asked it to be mounted. He wanted it centered but i kept them a cup holder and moved it to the passenger side.

beautiful ram. i wish they could've gone with a slightly longer lightbar, but I understand you're limited with used equipment & at least they're no trying to go slicktop (like a bunch of FD installs I've seen recently).

can't wait for the vid

What's the deal with the slip-on unit? I notice it has two motors and what looks like an electric reel up top. Is the motor on the passenger side for a generator?

The unit on the left is a low pressure darley davey pump hooked the 1" electric wind reel. The left engine is for high pressure foam pro cafs system with manual rewind.
