2014 Audi S5 Coupe

For this project, it is a 2014 Audi S5, in which the customer requested a dash light setup which was barely visible when off, and effective when on (easy, I know). The kicker is it is a lease, so the install required absolutely no holes, and to be run off a cigarette plug.

I created custom brackets using "The Clip" /www.theclip.com/store/product.php?productid=16382&cat=275&page=1, and mounted a total of (4) solid blue Whelen Ion's to the headliner, with wide-angle lenses added to the 2 outside Ion's, as well as a B/B TIR6 Slimlighter to the rear deck, behind window tint. The cigarette plug/switch is located in the glove box.

Attached is a night time video of the 4 ion's, with pictures of the mounting, wiring, and day time video to come shortly. The lighting in the front adheres (In theory) to the NYS VTL, as it acts as one single dash light. Comments/questions/concerns welcome

The flashback on that must be horrible. Why not fab up some kind of shield.

and for the record its still illegal. Only 1 'rotating' light is legal. But with 99% of the state going above and beyond that who cares

What's the vehicle used for? Volunteer fire I would guess

I did the same thing on a Lexus & a Rav4. Only difference I used Spitfire Ions. They are the same light but with a flashback shield.

Agree with others, flashback needs to be considered. It needs some sort of shield. Other than that, I like it.. A lot. Good idea.

Other than the flashback I think it looks good. Too bad he can't respond code 3 in a car like that!

Not to get off topic but the law says that you may display a blue light- it doesn't state that it must be rotating. Considering your location it's legit; most POVs on LI have egregiously illegal setups so sticking to solid blue is a win in my book.

Thanks for the comments/advice. Daytime it is crazy bright, but night time does have a good amount of flashback. Any recommendations on a custom shield? Plexi with double stick tape?
