Ambulance

Here a MICU is a unit with a nurse run by a hospital that does inter-facility transfers.

At my old job, those were just called the "PHRN Truck" (Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse). I worked on them all the time, usually ended up being the most fun calls.

Here, it all depends on the county. For instance, Chester County ALS units are called MICU's (aka, "MICU ###"), Montgomery and Berks Counties they are referred to as "Medic ###" on the radio.

I work on a MICU-ish ambulance. We take a MICN (mobile intensive care nurse) and lately a paramedic in addition to myself and partner who are both EMTs. As a group, the hospital refers to us as the MICN Team. The ambulances are labeled SCTU (specialty care transport unit) and meet special requirements from the states we normally transport from.

If I mention "bus" I am gonna get a little bus full of coffin dodgers from the senior center...........
