Any NY FASNY Recruit NY Open House participants here?

Anyone in NY who hosted a recruitment Open House this weekend or today? We had ours yesterday and turn out was not good at all. Weekly ads,College radio PSA,flyers,posters and newspaper mention in articles.


Just curious if anyone else had one and how it went.

I was there for about 3 hours...a single person showed up; and he was already an applicant just following up.


I might go back later...but I doubt it. We had absolutely zero advertisement on it; so I don't think anybody in my Town even knows about it.

A agency North of us took 8 applications in on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.They did door hanger flyers on every house.


But we are a gentrifying village and they are a new suburban growing area of housing tracts.

We are doing ours on the 21st. Minimal advertising... we'll see how it goes.

We did a 1/4 page ad in local weekly,next week has story on open houses in area..next tuesday is a Press Conference with 5 local departments for 2 local TV crews.


Also been flyering the heck out of our area and across the river in Troy NY paid FF area.15 % of our current members are from areas of paid Fire Dept locations.Also a table set up at local HS for trying to gain some more Junior member/Explorers to join.

Were having ours nextweek, we brought in four new members last year, which is pretty reasonable. We hang flyers on as many houses in the district we can get too, and everyone recieves letters in the mail.

Had local media here today in area Fire companies looking to recruit volunteers - Times Union
