Anyone Body Mounted LED HAWS?

Thinking of mounting leds (Vertex or Strobesnmore or hideablasts) on a body mount at the front corner of a Toyota FJ cruiser, It would be on the top of the "bumper wings" of the car. There is little room inside the odd corner lights of the car. So they would poke up from the bumpers.

And thoughts on the most durable and best optics in a haw for the appliacation. The haw would need good "side" light...

Thanks.

perhaps a linz6 would be good against the vertical black part of the bumper..

I would NOT recommend vertex. They are good head-on, but have awful side output. I personally would recommend a sound off universal undercover, great side output. hide-a-blasts seem to have good side output, but I personally have no experience with them. I will let someone else comment on strobesnmore brand. The Linz6 would give the most output of the bunch, no contest. Strobesnmore would be about $30 cheaper than anything else, all the rest would cost about the same.

I would go with a LINZ6 or LIN3 mounted to the end of the bumper. Preferrably on the black section above the chrome "wing" part. This would provide a better intersection signal and be better protected by the shape of the bumper itself.

How do I delete the entire post, not just the message?

I am unfamiliar with the other brands, but here is a 1/2 red & 1/2 white Whelen Vertex mounted on the fender just to the rear of the front wheel. These videos were made the night the first one was installed. (The driver side had not yet been installed). I have no problem seeing these Vertexs at 180 degrees and at a distance of an 1/8 mile easily.

Vertexes or Axixtech T.R.I. would be my suggestion, I have mounted both as surface/body mount with little issue.

It really depends on how large of a hole you want to drill in the sheetmetal, 3/4" for the Vertex controller to fit through, 1/4" - 3/8" for the cable of the Axixtech before attaching the connector.

I'd go with the linz6 or tri's! The tri's are super bright! I have tri's in the corner lamps here, now think how much brighter those would be surface mounted!

There is a Charger in my area that the Feds put vertex on the front fenders with the chrome flange . they are solid red on the drivers side and solid blue on the pass side . They look like little pimples ,but are really effective for side warning . This is a slick roof vehicle .

My department did the same thing and they are nice, very bright, both straight on and off axis.

I believe if you look on youtube, you can find a video or two of (I believe) Toronto Fire Dept's Toyota Highlanders. If I remember correctly they have 2 (1 red and 1 white) mounted in the front corners on the fenders on each side of the vehicle

EDIT: Here's the video I was talking about............
