Vehicle:

2001 Ford CVPI

Current Lighting Installed

2 Amber corner strobes

HLF

Whelen Mirror Beams

Whelen Dual Dashking

Whelen Gill Strobes

Whelen Traffic Adivsor with strobes

2 Galls Verison of the Whelen 700 Series strobes on rear deck. (do not work)

Tail and Reverse lights with HAW strobes

2 Galls Strobe packs.

This vehicle was recently bought from a police department by another department so they would have an extra car. This particular vehicle has been rewired several times by people that thought they knew what they were doing. So it was a mess. We were asked to rewire/fix/replace anything they it needed but to keep it relativily inexpensive. So this is our current project, to keep the current equipment but it make it function properly and look good.

uh.. wow.
Yes, wow indeed... LoL It's been a joy finding all the little unknowns in this car... Like a wire labeled "battery to console" and it comes from the fuse panel under the drivers side... LOL

Any reason for the amber corner strobes? Did they just want to avoid white/clear for some reason? Why not red/blue? Not that those are much better. I know its not your install, just curious to see if you know.

I'm going to assume it's because that's what they had laying around... But who knows... LoL

It has already been a process so far, and we've only had it a little over a week... LoL

Not worth the time it will take to fix that mess. Push it off a cliff, buy a new car, and start over.
Unfortunately, thats not an option... LoL

Wow, what an embarrassment. How did that thing not catch fire? Gotta love all of the Galls equipment...
God only knows... LoL

Haha. I'll post some pics up of what I dealt with our '02 9c1. It makes this Crown Vic look good.

Well that car is way sweeeter than the cars the PD i used to work for had thats for sure we drove grand marquises for gods sake not even real police cars.

Those are also about the worst graphics I've ever seen.

haha yea..very generic..on the badge decal, 1. it was cut to fit the "police" letters...2. it had "overfield twp police" on it, but who ever did it used small white vinyl letters, like from Wally world..lol

OMG wow. that is a mess. start at the front, cut every non factory wire you find, rip everything out and start over.

Yikes! Man, you've got your work cut out for ya...!!

yeah just a touch! lol...

i ripped out wires today that went from the battery to the trunk, the console to the trunk and they went no where!...i think a pulled 2 spolls of unused or wire that wasnt need out of the car today..

Wonder who did the original install. I think we should restart the thread worst installs. I think this makes it into the hall of fame.

Ok just a quick update.

Multiple wires removed..like a spool or two. new wires ran and a cleaner look to it. the siren and rewired switch box and TA controler has been remounted in console. sry no pics yet ill get them up asap. also graphics in the process of beeing removed.

BJ

Well we got the car finished and it was picked up... Everything was cleaned-up and rewired, plus all the decals were removed...

Take a pressure washer to the engine compartment. You'll thank me later when you don't have to scrub your paws so much after working on it. I pressure wash my engine once a year whether it needs it or not, and more often if I've been out playing in the mud. I add some Simple Green to the stream to make it degrease better, and I use hot water out of the water heater.

We planned on giving it a complete detail, but they needed the car back unexpectedly, so that didnt get done...

That needs to go in the Ugly Car Contest. I'd take a belt sander to it.

I'd hate to see #1 and #2

I like the lighting it is simple yet effective.
Thanks... He didn't want anything over the top, since it's essentially a "back-up" car. We actually took some lights out that were in there when we got it.

Good job! We need some our cars re done like that. Esp the ones that have just gone from 'spare' to 'on the line' due to several wrecks.

Nice work. Are they going to paint it or leave it U/C.

Thanx Again!

Overfield Township ...wow i can throw a rock to that..... yet to see this car i will have to look for it on the streets
Overfield Township PD is the department it was bought from. It's a Laceyville Borough PD car now...

Well we recently (Begining of the month) just did a complete de-install on this car... Took out everything!!! Their newest officer tagged a deer in mid-November and the insurance company marked it off as a total loss... They did recently get a new to them replacement. We'll be reusing some of the stuff from the old car and installing some new stuff (like a pair of SOS Intersectors and a Code 3 Supervisor {we think, its a full-sized interior bar regardless})
